my simple idea

Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:39 pm

Hi,

My simple idea is to install a very minimal os (debian, arch, openelec)? With bluetooth and connect it to my hdmi tv in bedroom. I'd use smartphone app to control mouse to access catch up tv.

Anyone got any thoughts? I realise I'm probably reinventing the wheel but only way to learn sometimes.

What would be the best os? Usb Bluetooth receiver? Etc

Thanks,
G

Interesting idea, but that can already be done very easily using one of the XBMC distro's (or compile it yourself), then use your phone as an XBMC remote (iOS or android, or even the TV remote if it supports CEC) and install addons for all the catch up TV channels :)

Yeah as I said I realise I'm reinventing the wheel but I'd rather do that. I doubt the parts will cost me much.

You need no parts other than a pi, psu, wireless network conn. Hdmi cable and an android phone. It really is dead easy

Do I not need a bluetooth receiver or can it be done over tcp/ip? I'd prefer to use bluetooth as I've never done anything with bluetooth before and this would be something useful.

Cheers,
G
