Bluetooth audio streaming to RPI randomly stops working

Sun Jan 22, 2017 8:41 pm

Hello,

I use the Raspberry Pi 3B and a Hifiberry DAC+ Pro soundcard as A2DP receiver receiving from my Android phone. When the RPi is idle, everything works well. But as soon as I start doing other stuff as simple as opening a terminal, the sound stops working. The bluetooth audio profile stays connected and my phone keeps playing the music, but pulseaudio just idles. To make it work again I have to disconnect and reconnect the audio profile.

I thought that it might have something to do with CPU load, so I played a little bit with the scheduling priorities in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf, without success. These are the changes I made to this file.

Code: Select all

high-priority = yes
nice-level = -20
realtime-scheduling = yes
realtime-priority = 1
exit-idle-time = -1
resample-method = trivial
This the output from /var/log/syslog:

Code: Select all

Jan 22 20:02:35 raspberrypi bluetoothd[690]: /org/bluez/hci0/dev_XX_XX_XX_XX_XX_XX/fd3: fd(22) ready
Jan 22 20:08:22 raspberrypi pulseaudio[558]: SBC decoding error (-2)
Jan 22 20:08:22 raspberrypi kernel: [ 3671.751825] Bluetooth: hci0: Frame reassembly failed (-84)

Are you using the on board WiFi?

Sorry, no ideas, although you might try a USB Bluetooth dongle. My Pi2 streams Bluetooth flawlessly, though it is using a slightly old version of Raspbian.

hi,
I'm still trying to enable streaming through a2dp. Could you share you steps or link to manual?
All I've found so far on the net didn't work as they were refering to older versions of pi or bluez.

If I run a2dp I'll be able to confirm if I have the same issues as you, and I have the same config (RPI3 + HifiBerry DAC PRO+)

Regards,

Here is the best modern guide on A2DP that I've seen: viewtopic.php?p=1063374#p1063374

In the meantime I'v found that topic and managed to run a2dp.

I had the same problems as you + sound quality is low, there's lot of glitches from time to time and metalic noise.
I've noticed that doing something else on RPI causes pulseaudio to crash and stops playback.
