Script.raspbmc.settings - failure.

Fri Aug 31, 2012 10:50 am

Hiope someone can help - Raspbmc working fine (mainly!) but I wanted to change the "update" setting to nightly. Trying to run the Raspbmc settings from within XBMC gets the above failure.....I'll try leaving it on overnight to see if it autofixes..

Exiting XBMC doesn't seem to do antything other than re-load XBMC.....

Just posting this here as it's the first hit on Google for this problem, and it bugged me for ages.

I think it's the "Add-on Information" screen that is crashing, rather than the add-on itself. If you right-click on the "Raspbmc Settings" add-on menu item it loads properly if you select "Add-on settings" rather than the default "Add-on Information" option.

If you don't have a keyboard/mouse attached like me, you can get that menu up by sending the text 'C' to XBMC using for example the XBMC remote Android app. Go to the "Remote Control" mode, press the menu button and select "Text Entry" to get an input prompt. This is a little annoying but fortunately you don't need to open/edit the Raspbmc Settings much!

Hope this helps.

Ah-ha! That seems better, but when I clck on "update nightly" the script failure message reappears....

I'd just reload the SD card, but it means shifting the whole shebang downstairs as my router lives there....and none of my Ethernet/Wireless bridge gizmos seem to work anymore..drat!

You get the same error if your running on wireless instead of hardwired.
I think the script is set to auto check for updates (via the ethernet connection) when it loads, making it crash out if your not connected via the ethernet port.

The script error is fixed in RC5 which will be released soon.

On the side note. Please report raspbmc specific problems on raspbmc forum
