Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
Is there anyway that you could release more images with each release such as 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, and 32gb?
Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
No, this will cost too much bandwith. However you can increase the size of the rootfs partition quite easily using a gparted live disk. This tutorial may come in handy for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DztSRaFyaVEthedude123 wrote:Is there anyway that you could release more images with each release such as 2gb, 4gb, 8gb, 16gb, and 32gb?

Is downmixing to stereo from 5.1-audio broken in XBian like it is in Raspbmc and OMXplayer? i.e. is dialogue very quiet and background noise way too loud with movies that use 5.1 audio.
Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
Dom found the bug in this thread http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 35&t=14051 and it looks like it is still broken in all the distros using xbmc until they switch to the new tree where it is fixed.Raspy-B wrote:Is downmixing to stereo from 5.1-audio broken in XBian like it is in Raspbmc and OMXplayer? i.e. is dialogue very quiet and background noise way too loud with movies that use 5.1 audio.

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
I am trying and it works perfectly. Smooth ui and playing ok. Since I am not very experienced with xbmc I have two questions:
1 is there a possibility to change the time zone from xbmc or should I go into Linux console?
2. What means activate the vfd display ? It can be connected to a imon vfd display and use the imon remote also ?
Thank you

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
I have the latest image here 0.6.1 but it will not recognise any mouse or keyboard once the xbmc GUI is loaded.
I've seen it work in the console with a ^C to break the load - it is fine. But cannot control the media player at all.
Now I have a USB keyboard connected. It allows me to scroll the menu but if I go into an item it stops working (freeze up). I think there is something odd going on with this version.
Any ideas?

1. You need to do this from the command line, the second post of this thread might help you http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... f=5&t=4977Paul_L wrote:I am trying and it works perfectly. Smooth ui and playing ok. Since I am not very experienced with xbmc I have two questions:

2. I don't know what VFD is

Re 1 - timezone
In XBMC ... from memory ... System /settings / appearance / international

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
I changed timezone with dpkg-reconfigure. Vfd is vacuum fluorescent display. It is a display like the one on media players, video recorders , etc. imon has such a display on a 5,25 bay connected on USB made for htpc . Also it has a ir remote and interface. My question is if the kernel of xbian has drivers for this kind on vfd and his remote. It will be a nice thing to use the imon vfd bay as a case for raspbian and to have a nice ir remote.
Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
I'm having trouble with getting HDMI-CEC working. I have both Panasonic Plasma TV with Viera Link and a Sony Bravia with Bravia Link and neither of them detect my Pi. I have updated to 0.6.2. It's definitely turned on in the TVs and I have enabled "Allow programs on this system to control XBMC". The cable I am using is HDMI 1.3.
Any ideas?

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
It's hard to say why it's not working. First off you should make sure that CEC is enabled. Go to system -> settings -> system -> input devices -> pheriphals. A rpi libcec adapter should be listed there check the settings. Your HDMI 1.3 cable could also be incompatible, maybe it will work with HDMI 1.4 (hdmi 1.3 supports cec though).granra wrote:I'm having trouble with getting HDMI-CEC working. This is also needed. Changing timezone from Linux console is not enough.Paul Webster wrote:Re 1 - timezone

i can't get my usb pen drives to work with xbian, i'm going back to openelec just because of this
Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution
To be honest, when I think about it, it could be the cable. I bought it off of Ebay dirt cheap and it didn't arrive in any packaging, just an envelope, it only says once in the description that it's 1.3 (he could be lying or not know better). The Panasonic TV doesn't even detect my brother's PS3 so I might just buy some real branded 1.4 cable locally and try that.Koenkk wrote:It's hard to say why it's not working.
