V-Nova / PERSEUS decode support?

Thu Apr 02, 2015 6:12 pm

Probably a (very...) long shot, but given that Broadcom seem to be one of the main drivers I wonder whether GPU / h/w support for this:

might be possible on the Pi?

Reading between the lines it may be even heavier on the decode requirements than straight H.265 4K or HEVC, but looks quite interesting (assuming that there's any content worth watching... :geek: ).

Modern codecs are not acceptably performant on the Pi without
dedicated (not general purpose) acccelerator blocks , so
the chance for this is zero on any existing Pi.

You might propably run a FLOSS decoder at SD
or worse quality though if one emerges someday.
