Streaming XBMC

Mon Mar 23, 2015 8:31 pm

Im setting up xbmc and I have a few questions

1) Can you get the special fusion addons?

2) I've been told that the RPI cannot stream video. Is this true? I want to know before I actually spend the time on the project because I don't want to waste my time.

Thanks :D

Please explain what you mean by "stream video". There's a lot of confusion nowadays with that term.
Minimal Kiosk Browser (kweb)
Slim, fast webkit browser with support for audio+video+playlists+youtube+pdf+download
Optional fullscreen kiosk mode and command interface for embedded applications
Includes omxplayerGUI, an X front end for omxplayer

Take video from the internet and playback.

I'm trying to watch video online basically.

You need a matching plugin for the service you want to use. There are lost of them available, but not for everything, of course.

By that definition the RPi CAN stream video from the internet. But... ( there is always a butt )

There are at least 20 different protocols (and variants) for streaming video from the internet.
- does Kodi support all of them ? Probably not, some probably needs additional add-on/plugins.
- does all plugins/add-on made for Kodi work on Raspberry Pi ? No.

So unless you want to get really specific about what you want to stream that is about as concrete an answer we can give.

I have no idea what those "fusion addon" you are talking about, is.

They have a Raspberry Pi logo on their front page so I would say its plausible that it will work.
