Movian (previously Showtime) now runs on RPi 2

Fri Mar 20, 2015 6:01 pm

Hi

Two things,

I've decided to rename Showtime to Movian (read more about why here: https://movian.tv/news/56).

Secondly, Movian now runs fine on Raspberry Pi 2

SD card image downloads can be found here: https://movian.tv/downloads/stos.

What is it?

(When I first saw this, I assumed that the movie channel known as Showtime had renamed itself to something else. Imagine that...)
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

Yeah, That's exactly why I renamed it :-) To avoid confusion with the TV-channel.

It's a basically a media center. Full feature list can be found here https://movian.tv/projects/movian/wiki/Features

Thank you andoma. It works like a charm on rpi2. And the best lan speeds, about 60mbps running a blu-ray 1:1 rip from my nas (upnp source). Better than openelec. :D

Cool!

The latest versions of Movian also support automatic mounting of media over USB. A feature that's asked by a lot of people it seems.

Thank you. What do you mean with "automatic mounting of media over USB"?

I'm using sd-2.1.2, but nothing happens when insert a pendrive with a bunch of films. What should I do?

I think the problem here is that there is no stable version of Movian itself released yet that supports this.

However, there are unstable versions, so if you go into "Settings" -> "General" and select "Bleeding edge" as upgrade track, and then check for new upgrades you will get a version that supports this.

When the next stable version of Movian is shipped the STOS image will be upgraded to ship with that.

It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem.
