Best solution for my scenario?

Hi, as a student I have a modest set up, a small hdmi TV, amplifier with speakers 3.5mil jack. And a external hard drive with ~100 films. I'm looking for a solution that will preferably allow me to mount the hard drive and library.

But more importantly my housemates want;

AirPlay support (audio, but video would be a plus)
Google cast support (when the icon appears in the YouTube app etc)
Spotify connect support (hopeful, I know!)
General DLNA renderer functionality

I am currently using raspbmc, but I'm finding it very unstable and of the above list it only supports AirPlay audio

Does the rasplex do all/most of this

Ideally it would also support Netflix, iplayer, Amazon VOD as well

Thank you in advance

A company called VMLite used to give free beta keys for their Airplay mirroring software. Netflix will propably never work (even on the Pi2) thanks
to DRM.

Other than that , are you using OSMC or RaspBMC ? RaspBMC is supposed to be dead , all future work will be done on OSMC instead.

Are you sure your power-supply and USB cable are good - "Chargers" rated 1A (1000 mA) may under-deliver when loaded.

I'm currently using Raspbmc becasue I struggled with the UI with OSMC and got constant hangs, I have tried a stock Galaxy s4 charger, an iPad charger and a multi charger rated up to 5A all with the same stability issues. I'm waiting to update to OSMC when it comes out of alpha

You might want to give openElec a try, it at a more stable release than the alpha OSMC is at presently.
