Is there a headless media player app (or remote/web GUI for OMXplayer/VLC) that will let me play/schedule videos on Pi?

I’m putting a screen in a small enclosure that needs to have the following functionality:

* auto play video files from a specific SD card folder on boot
* seamless playback i.e. no displaying CMD line interface between videos
* randomise/looping functions
* time scheduling options (i.e. start playback at 8am, stop playback at 9pm)
* remote control via smartphone app or web GUI

So far I've managed to use OMXplayer via command line to auto-play videos on boot up in a random order from a specific SD card folder, but I'm looking for the 'next step' in adding a little more functionality like remote controls for playback/scheduling.

Is there any app, command line or otherwise, that has all these functions?

I have, but it's not quite extensive enough to have these functions which makes me wonder if I should switch to something like VLC on Ubuntu, at least that way there'd be a few more options.
