CarPi

Tue Jun 13, 2017 5:06 pm

I was wanting to start on a project using the Pi 3. I wanted to build a computer for my car. My dilemma is that I want to have audio out through my door speakers and possibly a subwoofer. Do they make a 4 or 5 channel amplifier for the Pi? Any other tips would be welcome

The RPi has standard line out audio which can be connected to most audio amplifiers with line-in connections. (Red and white RCA type audio input connectors). https://www.google.com/#q=auto+audio+amplifier

You just need to get a properly wired cable for the RPi.

Fortunately there is a well established 'standard' for stereo audio on 3.5 mm TRS plugs and sockets. I have never encountered plugs or sockets not using it. Also RPis with a 3.5 mm TRRS AV socket are compatible with those TRS plugs/cables when only audio is required.

There isn't an amp but there is a USB 5.1 sound cards that works well on the RPI

Yep - plenty of sound cards out there.
Are you planning to use a car audio amp ? A 4 channel one and a 2 channel one ?
Are you going to use crossovers or faders ?

What are you thinking of doing ?
