I forgot to mention, there is also a very helpful Rebol/Red community on stackoverflow.com. They are very friendly to newbies and seasoned developers alike.

When you say you've used Pascal, have you tried the full Lazarus graphics IDE on the Pi? It gives you an environment like Delphi and of course compiles down to ARM code executables very well. I run my Pi headless and use Lazarus over VNC. which is very usable. Full code completion, integrated debugger etc.
If you do try it, I would suggest you don't just use the apt-get standard Raspbian installation which is out of date, follow the posts on page 2 here and install the new version 1.06 using the method initiated by Zog and followed by me further down the page:
