Re: Mono (C#) 2.11.4 hard-float for Raspberry Pi (EXPERIMENT

SpawnSP was absolutely right (even if what was happening failed the principle of least astonishment to this Unix newbee). I had one bad download file, & every download after that was downloaded as file.n
Each time I went to uncompress, it would use the original bad file.
Thx 4 the help.

Thank you for the link to a new hard float version, it's good news as .NET on ARM devices should be a popular option.

I had a look at the github and for a Linux newbie like me the dependencies & compilation looks daunting - would it be possible for someone to compile the binaries and zip/upload them? I would normally try myself but I find anything serious with Linux requires a lot of time & effort (try something, it fails, research why, try something different, loop until I get it right....)

Gene,

Is there any chance to have "Microsoft.VisualBasic" compiled and included in the DEB package?

Didn't know VB.Net come as a separate module:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2965 ... et-support

I'll try to update the deb package adding VB support the next week.

Uploaded mono-basic package. Didn't test it though.

Gene,

It installed perfectly but I had to do the following in order to be able to run a WinForms application:

sudo apt-get install libgdiplus
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libgdiplus.so /usr/local/lib/libgdiplus.so

I don't know why the last command is necessary, but it was a quick fix so that mono can locate the libgdi library in the /usr/local/lib folder.

This is not needed anymore.
Just use the official mono package from the latest raspbian distribution.

It complained when I used sudo too. Have you tried without sudo?

mono hellogui.exe
