Processing Sketches in Ruby

Thu Dec 13, 2018 8:39 pm

Write and run ruby-processing sketches in the GeanyIDE. PiCrate is a stand alone implementation of processing in ruby (depends on JRuby).
Install JRuby, the PiCrate gem and configure the GeanyIde using a simple command https://github.com/monkstone/install-picrate See running sketch:-

The latest version of PiCrate (version 2.0.1), actually requires jdk11, yet runs without reflective access warnings, thanks to improvements in jruby and jogl libraries. Furthermore also runs well on the latest Manjaro Arm release see post on https://discourse.processing.org/t/expe ... ypi4/20628 processing forum. Install script for Raspbian Buster https://gist.github.com/monkstone/6ae98 ... f589d14ec6 and Manjaro Arm https://gist.github.com/monkstone/412d7 ... 54731745a4.

Finally got my PiCrate sketches to run from the GeanyIDE on Manjaro and the performance is kind of tolerable see my you tube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlRo4C9 ... e=youtu.be. This is a Shader Toy sketch by Inigo Quilez, ported to run on PiCrate. The trick was to run sketches from the VTE rather than the Geany terminal emulator (this was not a problem with the earlier version of Geany installed on Buster).
