node-red at startup

Fri Dec 15, 2017 3:07 pm

Hi,
I would start node-red at the boot of my raspy pi3.
I've tried the following command:
udo systemctl enable nodered.service
but it doesn't work.
Someone can help me?
Thank in advance

Paolo

I assume you meant "sudo" not "udo" ?
If you only "enabled" it then its not started until next boot or until you do "sudo systemctl start nodered.service.

Yes!
Sorry, I meant "sudo". But unfortunately, it doesn't work at the next boot

I too have written some nodered code that I would like to auto start when Pi boots.

How do we do this?

FYI my overall plan is to run my Pi in kiosk mode, displaying a nodered dashboard. To do this I need to auto start nodered when my Pi boots.j

Bump.

I would like to know how to start nodered on startup.

My plan is to boot my Pi to kiosk mode and open a browser that will display a nodered dashboard, with the nodered app running on my Pi in the background.

The question asked by DirkS needs answering.
We need to know the status of the node-red service.

I've got a old 8.0 Jessie install (PiZero o vanilla - only had a single python prog on it) that I upgraded to v0.18.4 that I updated yesterday using the curl script here
https://nodered.org/docs/hardware/raspberrypi

to change from python prog to a node-RED one

It was all working fine so to check out your problem I did

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl enable nodered.service
then

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl start nodered.service
and tested it was working

then I rebooted and its automatically loaded following reboot
