The Powder Toy

Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:16 pm

The requirements to compile The Powder Toy:powdertoy.co.uk are:
git-core
build-essential
libsdl1.2-dev
libbz2-dev
liblua5.1.0-dev
fftw3-dev

I can't find those packages under arm on the Debian website, Does any one know how to get packages? If someone compiles The Powder Toy on the Pi, please show how and post a picture.

Lets see

http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=git-core
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywo ... -essential
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywo ... sdl1.2-dev
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=libbz2-dev

all of theese look fine to me

http://packages.debian.org/search?keywo ... a5.1.0-dev
http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=fftw3-dev

It seems you made some mistakes in copying down your list, the packages are actually called liblua5.1-0-dev and libfftw3-dev

P.S. Normally you would use apt-get to install packages....

I copied these straight from the powder toy website. I wonder if anyone has ever tried compiling it...

Hi Pi,
I am compiling now. Aptitude (apt-get etc) will accept the names you have in your list and find the right thing. I have had to hack the make file as it is very x86 centric. Here is what I have so far in terms of commands to use on Debian.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install git-core
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2-dev
sudo apt-get install libbz2-dev
sudo apt-get install liblua5.1-0-dev
sudo apt-get install libfftw3-dev

git clone https://github.com/FacialTurd/The-Powder-Toy.git

cd The-Powder-Toy
I will post either the makefile or the changes needed once I am convinced that I can compile it.

Hi

The link to your precompiled version 404's. Do you have it hosted somewhere else now?

Thanks
Geoff
