C++ FTP library or tools or... ? Need to automate getting and unzipping....

Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:52 pm

I need to automate retrieving a file from a government service every hour. It is a zip file so bonus if you can tell me how to automate extracting the file from the zip folder so my other program can read and parse the data. I did some googling but most links I found were 10 years old. Just wondering if there is some relatively standard/universally known c++ library for FTP stuff before I go pick something that's considered obsolete or trash.

EDIT: I first came to ask for a modern C++ library or package for FTP clients, but it now occurs to me that it doesn't reallly have to be something I code.

A combination of cron for the timing, wget for the downloading and an unzip program (not sure which one) would do the trick quite nicely. No need to use C, C++ or whatever programming language, just simple Linux tools.

Awesome, that works great and wayyy easier than coding something - I'm obviously brand new to FTP and this one is a project of necessity rather than love.
