qtcreator on jessie

Sat Oct 03, 2015 11:09 am

I am trying to install qtcreator on jessie. I get this when I try to run it from a command window.

Code: Select all

libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
No tool chain set from kit "Desktop".
No tool chain set from kit "Desktop".
Unable to find an X11 visual which matches EGL config 125
Could not initialize OpenGL
Aborted
I imagine I need to install more packages - but what?

How or what did you install :?:

The RPi supports OpenGL ES, but you have an OpenGL error :?:

Did you install from repository :?:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qtcreator

Yes I installed from the repository. As far as I can remember
sudo apt-get install qt5-default
This was probably a mistake as I thought it would give a basic installation.

Then
sudo apt-get install qtcreator

That seems to list 30 dependent packages - do I have to install them all one by one?

No, it will auto install dependencies when run

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qtcreator
adieu

Thanks for your help

Done that - nothing installed.

However I used synaptic to chack the packes installed against that list and three appear to be missing:
qtbase-abi-5-3-2
qtdeclarative-abi-5-3-2
qtquick1-abi-5-2-1

These do not seem to be in the repository

[Edit]
Thinking about it I suspect that the prblem is not those "missing" packages but something to go with OpenGL.I have no idea where to look.

For anyone else trying to use QtCreator this got me going
viewtopic.php?t=99129&p=688095
Add "-noload Welcome" to the command line. I would still like to hear of a proper fix though.

It's an internet abbreviation for "thank you" because Fruity is missing the vowel keys on his keyboard.

Ok, qtcreator starts, but no kit, no qmake. Has any body installed and used it? Then please let us know how to compile.

Tools/Options/Build&Run/Kits
Then click on Desktop(default)
find Compiler and click Manage button
Clock Add and select GCC

Having done all this I can compile. However this is not saved when you close QtCteator.

Does anyone know how to get it to save?

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install qt5-default qt5-qmake, qtbase5-dev-tools
This should be the basic, but there are a lot of "-dev" packages for the different Qt-modules.
Maybe "qt5-doc" also should be considered, I dont know if QtCeator are able to make use of them.

Edit:
If you want to make Qt apps of course, you can set it up to use fo any C/C++ code as Roger explained.

Hi everyone,

In complement of the RogerW 's solution, you can deactivate the Welcome plugin once you started Qt Creator the first time.

Go to Help -> About Plugins...
Uncheck Qt Creator --> Welcome
Restart Qt Creator

This is just a temporary solution that give you the possibity to launch Qt Creator without typing "-noload Welcome" to the command line for your following session.

Best regards,

Has anyone actually had success running qtcreator on Jessie on a Pi 3?

I need something that's simple to install (using gtk+/Glade at moment without any issue)..

But am considering if qtCreator is a better option.

A long time ago, I installed QT4 on Jessie (RPi 2&3) to edit/compile NOOBS. It still works fine.

According to aptitude, I installed the following qt4 packages:
  • qt4-dev-tools
  • qt4-linguistic-tools
  • qtcreator
It lists the following packages as having being automatically installed:
  • qt4-designer
  • qt4-qmake
  • qtbase5-dev-tools
  • qtcreator-data
  • qtdeclarative5-dev-tools
  • qttools5-dev-tools
  • qtxmlpatterns5-dev-tools
Maybe there were others I installed too, but it was too long ago to remember.
I also needed to add the "-noload Welcome" to get qtcreator to run.
I have no experience with QT5.
