bogus source IP address when sending a multicast

Sun Oct 06, 2019 5:12 pm

When I send a multicast packet, the SOURCE IP address in the mc datagram is not the primary IP address of the sending device.
It seems to be manufactured internally and is also pingable. The packet is otherwise OK and received as a mc.

Ideas?

Does the address start with 224, 232, 233, 234 or 239?

These are the allocated logical addresses for multicast traffic but without knowing a bit more about what you are doing and how it may be a bit hard to provide an answer...
