New To Python

Tue Jul 15, 2014 9:27 pm

A little bit of background about myself I am a complete noob when it comes to programming / scripting

I have wrote basic BASH scripts nothing to fancy just stuff covering the basics such as Loops / functions / case switch's

I am looking at learning python, Question is what is the best way to go about it? are there any good resources that teach you how to use Python as BASH scripting replacement? i.e create basic administration scripts as that is the kind of path I would like to go down i'm not interested in creating games.

Many Thanks

Python is not a Bash replacement. It can be more or less used to write scripts that do something on the system, but it's not always the best thing to do - depends what actually you want to do with it. And there is a lot of Python tutorials on the web and in book stores.
