GPIO and time.

I am a little new at this but I am working on a project and was wondering how can I control a transistor with the GPIO based on the hour/minute of the day, and what hardware would you recommend for getting the time.

Look at the free magpi magazine for hardware interfacing details.

If your Pi is connected to a network it will automatically pick up the time.
