pogles OpenGL ES 2.0 Python Bindings

Sat Oct 27, 2012 5:02 pm

pogles v0.1 has been released and can be downloaded from http://pypi.python.org/pypi/pogles.

pogles is a set of Python (v2 and v3) bindings for OpenGL ES v2.0 and has explicit support for the Raspberry Pi.

pogles can be used to write standalone applications or be used with a framework (such as PyQt).

sounds great! :)

does it only support the raspberry pi or will it also be usable on normal pcs? (i read that newer opengl versions support all features of opengl es 2.0 too.)

Currently support is for RPi and X11 (usually via Mesa). It's structured so that it is very easy to add support for other platforms (Android, Windows etc). Patches welcome ;)

Hello,

do you have any tutorial about OpenGL suited for pogles? Or how to use pogles?

Thank you!

The documentation is here...

http://pyqt.sourceforge.net/Docs/pogles/

Any OpenGL ES tutorials should be fairly easy to translate to Python. If you write any examples of your own I'd be happy to include them.

Hi Phil:
I'm now learning OpenGL and trying to use pogles to write some programs.
I've read the documents of pogles 1.0 and have some questions:
Does the function list of gles2 include all the gl functions that pogles have? I need to operate with pixels from a picture, and I only find glReadPixels() in the list. so does gles2 also have glCopyPixels() and glDrawPixels() ?
Thanks.
