Looking for Python Libraries for : Adafruit GA1A12S202 Log-scale Analog Light Sensor

Wed Dec 06, 2017 12:09 pm

Hi all

bought one of these from Pimoroni.

Done some googling... but not finding a example/pythion library that explains how to use it, mostly just finding c code for the Arduino.

Anyone point me in the right direction.

You will need a ADC that can read between 0V and 3V3. With 3V3 as the reference voltage. You can do that with an Arduino (which give you a 10-bit ADC) or MCP3008 8-bit ADC (but it may not have enough resolution).

http://rasp.io/analogzero/ gives you a simple to use MCP3008 and the trivial code to drive it.

So reading between the line's. Without a ADC I can't use the unit on the Rpi?
