Problem using serial port with python (HDMI interference)

Wed Aug 09, 2017 9:38 am

Hi everybody,

I'm developing a sensor based on Raspberry Pi 3 and I write the code in Python. To communicate with another peripheral I need to use Serial Port because the other peripheral only has this possibility. To configure the system I'm working with an auxiliar screen and I have established well serial communication. I've follow this tutorial to setup the communications --> https://spellfoundry.com/2016/05/29/con ... ding-pi-3/

But when I unplug the HDMI port I have a lot of interferences in the serial port communications. I try disabling the HDMI output editing /etc/rc.local file and adding /usr/bin/tvservice -o but it doesn't works.

Are there another way to avoid the HDMI interferences?

Thanks for your help!! :) :)

Do you have a ground wire between the RPi and the serial peripheral?
Go here for my RPi writeup. Basic config, Serial Port add-on etc:

Hi klricks, in order to test the behaviour of the system I'm simulating the other peripheric with another Raspberry by the moment. Is for this because I don't have wired the Raspberrys grounds, is it necessary?

Thanks for all!!
