Pigpio: Python library also available with new Raspbian?

Fri May 13, 2016 2:47 pm

The May 2016 Raspbian image contains the pigpio library (or maybe just the daemon), according to the blog. With the May Raspbian lite, I could get the daemon with "apt-get install pigpio". The Python part of pigpio was not fetched, however.

I was wondering if I still have to download/compile the entire pigpio project myself. Not that this is a problem, but I tend to avoid having both an "official" and a manually installed package on the system. So if I have missed something I'd be glad if someone could point me to it.

Thanks!

The python part comes from a separate package:

Code: Select all

[email protected] ~ $ apt-cache search pigpio
pigpio - Library for Raspberry Pi GPIO control
python-pigpio - Python module which talks to the pigpio daemon (Python 2)
python3-pigpio - Python module which talks to the pigpio daemon (Python 3)
