Serial port problems reading data

Tue May 27, 2014 6:09 pm

I made application in Java that receives requests over HTTP and forwards them to the serial port, and back. I am using RXTX Java library and usb to serial port adapter.
From my windows machine where I developed the code everything works fine with the external device but when I move the .jar file to the RPi and try there it seems to send data to the external device but it does not receive all the data. Looks like it receives about half of the data, and it never receives '\n' character. I am using 19200 boud rate, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and parity even. Can RPi mess or reject that boud rate on usb port (using usb to serial adapter) or do you have any other clue why it is behaving differently then windows machine?

This recent thread disussed a very similar situation that turned out to be related to the power supply for the usb-serial adaptor.
