Raspberry PI time capsule..Possible??

Mon Feb 17, 2014 11:59 pm

Hi There, My names Oli Fowler I'm new to all this! I need some help, I'm a graphic designer finishing off my last few months at Camberwell College of Arts, London.. For one of my final projects I'm building a time capsule for my family (poss for community's in the future) I have this idea that my family that I grew up with could access a Facebook page and write down the memory's that they have about our family (which has now drifted apart) and then somehow these memory's could be automatically sent to a time capsule where they would be automatically stored for the future Fowler family to access?

I was thinking about powering the capsule with solar power, so I could keep any electronic devise inside powered. My friend Alex suggested maybe using RPI somehow...

If there's anybody out there that could help me with my research I'd be eternally grateful!

Can this idea work? Is there a better solution?

Oli

Hello Oli and welcome.

It should be possible. Just found this:

Doesn't look look too complicated to install but make sure you have enough storage space on your RPi, either on the SD card or on a attached external drive.
Using Linux command line usually boils down to these three things:
#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.
