Monitoring the change of channels/inputs on an HDMI TV

Mon Dec 16, 2013 7:30 pm

Hello,

I would like to play the content of a folder on an HDMI TV. Using omxplay it's straightforward through a script or program.

However when the user change channel, or switch input on his/her TV, I would like the script/program to stop and only restart when the raspberry input is selected again on the TV.

The tvservice command with its monitoring option (-H) doesn't seems to give me any meaningful results.

Is anybody know how I could achieve that?

You could have a look at using a simple IR receiver to pick up any commands which would change the channel/power.
I'n not familiar enough with HDMI to know how this could be done over the HDMI connection alone.

Does the TV support CEC?
I know xbmc can be set up to pause playing video when tv is switched away from xbmc, and resume it when switched back.
Try using "cec-client" to monitor the cec events.
