Tachometer

Thu Nov 10, 2016 4:04 pm

Hey,
I am new to using the raspberry Pi but have a project I want to do. I need to display the RPMs of an electric motor on a digital gauge(digital tachometer) but not sure how to set it up. Any thing helps!

You might have a look at my program info-beamer. There is example code for it that displays gauges that you can control remotely by sending udp packets to info-beamer.

Here is what a user build with that for his boat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6YJ4oqvQZM

Take a disk, cut a small slit in it, put Laser diod on one side, photosensor on other side, count time between pulses, calculate and display.
