Controlling a GoPro Via Wifi.

Sat Aug 02, 2014 9:50 am

I am want to do some time lapse photography with a GoPro. Specifically I want to be able to turn the camera on and off and take single shots. There is a usb cable with an FTDI chip that can probably do this, but the Pi will be some distance from the GoPro, so Wifi is preferable.

I can't find any documentation on how to use the WiFi interface on the GoPro, although I can connect to it OK. Does anyone have any pointers, or know of similar projects?

Thanks. I have managed to find a few useful pages showing how to control the GoPro over Wifi using http GET commands:

An easier option is to use the free GoPie software that I created for the Raspberry Pi. You just need to download and install the files, followed by a configuration using a simple file on a USB drive (no coding necessary). It can interface a GoPro with an RC transmitter, switches/buttons, and microcontrollers (eg. arduino). Check it out at www.graftrobotics.com/gopie :D .
