Mouse Double Click Speed

Tue Jan 08, 2013 7:25 am

Hi,

Got a RaspPi for Christmas and have been having fun playing with it with my 5 year old.

Is there any way to change the double click sensitivity of the mouse? She is finding it too quick. The "Mouse and Keyboard" utility in the Preferences section on the Desktop only allows you to adjust the speed of the pointer as far as I can see. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonathan

One of the things about Linux is that olmost every setting resides in a text file somewhere and this one must be somewhere.

I am going to have a dig. ;)

Not yet, but it has to be there somewhere.

One of the biggest problems is that as it's one of the oldest bits of the gui it's been burried for years.

I know this is an old post, but I just had the same problem. So this is just for new users who can't find the option and don't want to mess around in config files.

There is a program that is not installed by default in Raspbian.

sudo apt-get install obconf

This will add an "Openbox Configuration Manager" to Preferences in your Menu.

When you open it, one of the option tabs is "Mouse".

In there you can find an option to change the Double Click Speed.
I changed mine from 200 to 500. If I click more slowly than 500 it will not open things, but anything up to that speed works.

I have single click for file selection, but I double click my titie bars to roll up windows.

Openbox Configuration Manager also lets you change many other things very easily.

Like that - thanks RossDv8.

One of my other niggles is that re-sizing requires very precise positioning of the mouse before clicking, and I had hoped this would enable me to relax the criteria, but I haven't found a setting which has the desired effect. Have I missed something?

Apologies for the thread drift.

Hi,
You can change the settings with creating a file called .gtkrc-2.0.mine. and add these lines to that file.

Code: Select all

gtk-double-click-time=500
gtk-double-click-distance=20
I have written a script to automate this task you can find the code here
