on fresh install without modification the standard login is user "pi" and password "raspberry".

Worst case, you can boot up a fresh copy of RaspiOS on a new SD card, mount the original SD card in a USB adapter, and copy your project file(s).

You can put the SD card in a PC (with an adapter) and copy the important files.
You can also use the PC to remove the password of the pi user to be able to login again once the SD card is back in the Pi

If your raspberry pi isn't running headless, you can add init=/bin/bash to the kernel parameters in cmdline.txt
After booting into the command line execute

Code: Select all

mount -o remount,rw /
Then change the passwords and remove init=/bin/bash from the kernel parameters in cmdline.txt

Return to “Advanced users”
