Synergy Keyboard and Mouse Sharing

Whilst looking for host access solutions (see separate post). I came across synergy which enables keyboard and mouse sharing fo WIndows, OS X, Linux etc. It appears to cost money but a little more research and it would appear that older binaries are open source.

Has anyone used this on a Laptop / Pi configuration and could they help me out? I have downloaded the

You don;t need to download it separately. apt-get install synergy will do it, then you need a config file. The server and the client need to be run on the computer with the mouse/KB attached and the machine you want to control respectively (synergys and synergyc are the commands).
Headless PI. OMG, someone cut it's head off. Oh, hang on. it didn't have one to start with.
