speed profit by shutdown video output

Sun Feb 19, 2017 11:07 am

Will there be a speed profit - for example by avoiding interrupts - when completely shutdown video output (even if no outputs are produced)?
If so, how to shutdown this? And how to make it visible again?

My problem: High speed AD-Sampling/control with C.

Thanks for helping!

If your running your Pi headless, set it to boot to the command line interface. I do this with my weather clock PI that has a sense hat on it. To go back to the desktop GUI I just run sudo raspi-config and change the BOOT option to Desktop.

I think that the HDMI system is entirely handled by the Videocore GPU, so generally won't affect the use of the ARM to any great extent, probably not enough to affect your sampling rate/jitter.

You turn it on and off with a command called tvservice.
