The earlier comments regarding power consumption suggest it probably isn't running any code, and won't have got far enough in the boot process to care about the SD card.

First of all, I goofed with the current consumption. Typing on an iPad has it's challenges. The current is about 40mA, not 4.

I cannot see a clock on my scope coming from the X1 x-tal. I see a steady 0.7V on pin1 and only some noise on pin3.
If I "hoover" with my probe closely above the PCB, there is high frequency noise generated, so something is working.

I also used my scope to test several of the PPX test points and again the power supply lines seem to be there and within specs.
There is very little else I can do as this micro component level, so whatever happened happened and fried something on my RPI while it is was working.

With a little ceremony, I pulled the life support system and all life signs quickly stopped. May my RPI RIP.
