Provide vpn capabilities on entire home network

Fri Dec 30, 2016 8:56 am

I have a fibre broadband router from my ISP but it doesn't have the capability of connecting directly to a VPN service provider. I'd like to be able to protect all the devices on my network, both wired & wireless, without having to install vpn client software on each of them.

Clearly I could just buy a replacement router with vpn capabilities but was wondering if a raspberry pi could be added to my existing network setup and used to provide this functionality. Is this possible?

I use openvpn on wheezy sucessfully and can access all I need within the local network.
Took a while to set up but it is free and private in that you don't need a third party system to 'host' the VPN.
My primary use was to manage local Pi systems while away from home. Being able to SSH to them in a secure way was the main requirement!

Google is your friend search 'raspberry pi openvpn' here is one such how-to: http://readwrite.com/2014/04/10/raspber ... -browsing/
