Low Power Mode

Tue Aug 25, 2015 1:08 am

hello all, I am considering building a PiPhone of my own, however I would like to use the Pi 2B instead of the A+

the reason why is because I plan on using emulators and moonlight gamestreaming, which I think wouldn't work as well on an A+
what are some things I can do to conserve power so I can extend the battery life where possible? Does underlclocking do anything? I can do some modding on the board itself if I think it's worth the effort, but I would prefer to keep things on the software side for now!
thanks!

There's very little you can do to reduce power consumption.

Underclocking has been tested and had very little effect (<10mA).

The GPU has good internal power saving modes where it shuts down any parts of itself that are not currently being used.

The machine you really need doesn't exist yet - the Pi 2A ;)
