Etimedout / get twin message error when connecting Raspberry-Pi to Azure IoT

Wed Oct 04, 2017 7:35 am

I am trying to use this tutorial Connect Raspberry Pi to Azure IoT Hub (Node.js) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ ... et-started
It is about connecting from Raspberry-Pi to Azure IoT.
But I found error like this:

pi@raspberrypi:~/iot-hub-node-raspberrypi-client-app $ sudo node index.js 'HostName=IOTHeatSensor.azure-devices.net;DeviceId=new-device;SharedAccessKey=a3TjHZ40udjd....zToGnUQY='
{[Error: ETIMEDOUT, Connection timed out] errno: 110, code: 'ETIMEDOUT', syscall: 'writeByte'}
get twin message error
get twin message error
get twin message error

Maybe someone knows how to make it right? How to make the tutorial works? Thank you very much before

censored out (part of) private key, be careful not to publish details like that.

The "errno 110" means IOTHeatSensor.azure-devices.net can't be reached or IOTHeatSensor.azure-devices.net is not listening for connections.

So get the results from the following commands
ip addr show
ip link show
ip route
ping -c3 $(ip route | awk '/default/ {print $3}')
ping -c3 8.8.8.8
ping -c3 google.com
ping -c3 IOTHeatSensor.azure-devices.net

And we can tell you where your networking is broken.

Go and ask the very nice folks who are running that internet server for you. Nothing I can fix.

you mean your friendly moderator tried to keep you safe by replacing a part of the key with those "...." dots.
there was no need to publish the full SharedAccessKey anyway, not for understanding the problem....
