Sonic Pi overlapping audio

In Sonic Pi 2.2 when I do the wait time to 0.5 the audio overlaps. In the tutorials it has it on 0.5 and somehow I feel that overlapping notes isn't how it is supposed to sound. Is there a fix for this? I have a B+ and using the 3.5mm audio jack for sound output as I have a HDMI to DVI converter.
