Mouse pointer speed

Mon Dec 15, 2014 3:13 pm

Hi!

I just got a new Raspberry Pi and set it up but I found that the mouse pointer speed was TOO SLOW. Even almost unbearable to use.

I'm quite inexperienced with Linux so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :D

Assuming that you're using lxde (standard GUI on Raspbian):
IIRC you can change the settings in menu (bottom left) / preferences / keyboard and mouse.

Firstly, thank you for help. I appreciate that someone took their time to help me :)
However, I've already tried to mess around with the keyboard and mouse settings. In the settings, I found: Acceleration, and Sensitivity. I maxed both of these but nothing changed.
Have any other ideas?

Thanks

try adding
usbhid.mousepoll=0
to the command line (cmdline.txt in /boot).

HAHAha... i don't understand, why that issue report is closed... https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/642
maybe you all should open the issue again and post your mouse details to there.
and i don't understand, why usbhid.mousepoll=0 is not default...
i never saw a downside of have that option enabled with or without an affected mouse
{ I only give negative feedback }

The issue is closed because the problem has been solved.
It's not default, because it needs much more CPU cycles and is only required for some mouse/keyboard combos with a strange behavior.

ah ok, thank you for telling me the downsides of that option. never ever somebody told it before.
but then that option should be enabled as default for NOOBS (that is the first contact for users to install an OS - an always proper working mouse is essentially at that stage and CPU performance is not that mandatory here)
and should be disabled like it is on OS, but an option to enable in raspi-config

Hi, I am a real novice, and have tried to change the cmdline.txt file but it won't let me as I don't have write permission. Please, can someone tell me how I can acquire the necessary permission. Thank you.

Charlie.

Hi Folks
I am also having a problem with slow mouse response. I have tried all the suggestions in this forum to no avail.
cat /boot/cmdline.txt displays:
dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 console=serial0,115200 console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p7 rootfstype=ext4 elevator=deadline fsck.repair=yes rootwait
quiet splash plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles usbhid.mousepoll=0
I have tried usbhid.mousepoll=0 and usbhid.mousepoll=1 followed by reboot.

The result of lsusb is:
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1307:0163 Transcend Information, Inc. 256MB/512MB/1GB Flash Drive
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 046d:c52e Logitech, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 062a:4101 Creative Labs
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
What am I doing wrong?

Anyone?

Kind Regards
Graham

I just got a Pi 3 B+ a couple days ago, the mouse speed was so horrible, I completely gave up using the pi directly and got busy via sshfs, ssh, vnc etc from my main computer to get rolling with it... but really wanted to play around on the Pi itself....

Then thank goodness I decided to ask the "Google`s" about the issue... found this post.... added the suggested line to my cmdline.txt which resolved the issue for me, I even had to set the mouse speed slider way down :D
