System halts - or does it?

A couple of days ago I was reading a post which suggested that if any lights other than the power light remained on once halt was initiated, it meant there were processes which hadn't shut down. I can't find the post again now. I've had my Pi for almost 5 weeks now and have updated several times via RPi-update. It's running the 19/4 Squeeze image. My lights have always stayed on after system halt, regardless of whether I shut down from the command line or from lxce

What is the best way to track what processes fail to close?

Thanks

No, halt doesn't reset the chip (which causes network LEDs to go off). reboot will.

As long as "system halted" is displayed, and OK led stops flashing, you are good. (network LEDs do continue to flicker)

Thanks Dom. I'll check shortly - I did get the impression that all lights were still flickering but the pi is in a Lego house so I need to check through its strategically placed window to be sure!

yes, that's what I'm getting so all is fine. I must have misread what lights were supposed to be on or active. Thanks Dom
