Add keyboard => kernel panic

Sat Jun 23, 2012 12:37 pm

Fresh from the box, I plugged in an HDMI cable, an Ethernet cable, a PC World essentials USB keyboard and USB mouse, and a 4Gb Samsung SDHC Card with the debian 6 image. I added a power supply (5V 1A yoinked from my HTC phone) powered up and got pretty lights on the board and a kernel panic on my TV.

Ouchy. Consulted the troubleshooting page and unplugged everything except the HDMI and reconnected the power. Got as far as the login. Reattached the keyboard: kernel panic.

Is my keyboard just too cheap?

Looks like that keyboard is not working:

until the cause is understood, you will need to use a different keyboard.

Thanks Dom. Looks like PC World ARE too cheap! Maybe I'll try and write some drivers: that seems like the appropriate solution.

This issue looks like:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 2&p=109377

which has been fixed in latest firmware.

I got my Pi yesterday and installed the Arch image (4-29). Immediately did

Code: Select all

pacman -Syu
and part of that update was the kernel...
