Android VNC Connection.

Tue Nov 11, 2014 6:07 pm

Guys. Hi. I am like stuck in this situation since many days. I've set a static ip for rpi in cmdline.txt. it's set to 169.254.1.1 I've set up tightvncserver properly. Also, ive allowed My note 3 tether to be shared with the windows 7 laptop which is connected with rpi via lan cable. But, i can't use the same 169.254.1.1 with AndroidVNC viewer. It shows connection timed out. I tried using port 1, and 5901. But no results.

Please help....

I don't know if this is any help to you. I got Ripple Remote from the TightVNC website for my phone. It cost £2.33 but it connected to my Pi B+ straight off, no problems. Then I used it to connect from my tablet to my Pi(it didn't cost any extra) with no problems. I tried to connect the tablet to my laptop but no luck, it didn't like any of the IP addresses I tried. We have sky wifi so everything is wireless. Don't ask me anything technical because I haven't a clue.

Do I keep my mouth shut and look stupid or do I open it and remove all doubt.

Just so I'm clear, you've got a Note3 connected to some network somewhere, tethered to your Windows7 machine and your Pi connected by a cable to your Win7 machine and you are running a VNCviewer on the Note3? I don't think that is going to work without considerable messing about. Do you have a router? That would make this a lot simpler. Also normally the .1 addresses are used by your router or gateway. You've got two networks here, one between the Note and the Win7 machine and the other between the Win7 machine and the Pi.

Simpler might be to use your note as a portable hotspot and access everything via wireless. Then the Pi and the Win7 machine would be in the same network and on the same address block as the Note3.

My setup at home is a router, with a wireless access point connected by wire. My Pi is connected by wire to the router. My phone is using the WiFi through the wireless access point. It is a snap to use my phone to VNC into my Pi. I'm using RealVNC software on the phone and TightVncserver on the Pi.
