Raspberry Pi Into an FM Transmitter

Fri Nov 07, 2014 3:56 pm

Hi, I was trying to make an FM transmitter but I get only some constant beep. Used this - http://www.icrobotics.co.uk/wiki/index. ... ransmitter .

And used this to start

Code: Select all

sudo ./pifm sound.wav 100.0
Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks

what RPi you are using A, B rev.1, B rev.2, B++?
is the frequency free, you try to use?
what format has your sound file (mono/stereo, 8/16bit, bit per second)?
{ I only give negative feedback }
RPi Model B (rev1, 256MB) & B (rev2, 512MB) & B+, RPi2B, RPi3B, RPi3B+, RPiZeroW, ...

Used model B, sound file was in the project files(star wars song, 16 bit, mono, 44.1kHz), yes frequency is free(also tried different frequencies)

If your country has a licensed radio spectrum then you WILL be violating your local broadcasting laws on 100MHz and a number of frequencies near that one (due to the harmonics when broadcasting a square wave).

That doesn't answer the question asked (yes, see sig).

The question asked was "Am I doing anything wrong?", which is very different from the question you chose to answer ("Am I doing anything illegal?").

I believe the phrase to put into your Google is "legal positivism".
And some folks need to stop being fanboys and see the forest behind the trees.

I'm not sure encouraging polluting the spectrum can really be seen as a 'good' thing.
