Pi Problem

I have just recently bought a memory card off eBay with noobs installed and when I power up my pi only the red power light is on and no others. Could this possibly mean a faulty memory card?
Thanks.

Please study

I get my SDCards from the supermarket or Wilko's, that way I'm less likely to get a fake. If the card seems too cheap from eBay then it is probably a Chinese fake.

The seller is uk based and I noticed it's a micro sd card inside an adapter.

OK. What Raspberry Pi is it? A model B (26 pins) or a B+ (40 pins)?
It may be that the version of NOOBS on the card is too old for a B+.

Study the contents of the linked thread I've posted and when you're convinced you've tried everything come back here.

Also when I try and open the SD card on my PC it says The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. Is this normal?

No, it is not. You should be able to see a few files at least.
Your best option might be to reformat the card, download an install image and write that to the card.

No. Normally you'd see a very small 56MB filesystem or on an unused SDCard an 8GB filesystem.
Time to run the SD Assoc formatter (with format size adjustment on to reset the card to 8GB), unzip a new copy of NOOBS on to it and start from there.

Try to format it yourself or run h2testw to test if it is a fake. NEVER buy SD cards from eBay, they can easily be fake.

Well I have tried formatting the card and installing NOOBS again and still just showing the red power light, could there be a fault with my PI?

Spend a fiver, get a new 8GB sdcard from your local supermarket.
Follow the NOOBS instructions carefully to get the contents of the zip file into the root filesystem on the card.
