Hi

I am connecting my Pi B+ to my laptop after following this tutorial http://pihw.wordpress.com/guides/direct ... onnection/

All has gone well although i cannot connect to the internet. Then i followed this http://anwaarullah.wordpress.com/2013/0 ... less-mode/

But when i try and share the internet, putty cannot connect to the pi saying the network is unreachable.

When i turn sharing off, it opens Pi in putty just fine. Any ideas? i am running windows 7

That would certainly make things much easier except i use a shared connection and we dont have access to a router

What do you mean by "shared connection"?

If you have a cable from your router you can use a small 5-port or 8-port hub.

What device has the internet connection, the Windows 7 Laptop ? if so see:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/wind ... =windows-7

This assumes the connections setting in the Operating System installed on the RPi is at default !
