[RetroPie] Emulationstation runs slow on B+ but not on B

Sat Sep 13, 2014 6:02 pm

Hello!

I've got two PIs, one old with 2 usb slots and one new with 4 usb slots.

I tried installing RetroPie on the new one with 4 USBS, but it doesn't run RetroPie as smooth as on my old one. Even Nintendo games "lags" and the sound gets all choppy because of it.

Any ideas what might have caused this?

I'm having the same problem on mine. I only have a B+ model, and everything runs very slowly, even NES games.
Does anyone have any idea of how to fix it?

You might want to check the speed of your microSD vs SD card. I had the same problem and ended up just using the B pi rather than B+ due to the speed of the microSD.

You have to think that a lot of full size SD cards are for cameras and would need the higher speed for read and write.

That was exactly the problem. I've moved the roms to a USB Stick and everything worked like a charm!
