java: command not found

Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:15 am

I was exporting a Processing sketch to make it an executable file, I ran the file after exporting it using terminal and it ran. But after closing it suddenly after calling the file again, I get an error saying that:

java: command not found

I tried to use java -version and it gave me:

java: command not found

I tried to get java again by: sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-jdk

But they say i already have the latest version. I've read some things that its about $PATH but their instructions are very vague and I don't quite understand how to troubleshoot the problem. Can someone help me find a way around this error?
