Cannot see Pi after setting up firewall

Wed Jun 04, 2014 10:47 am

I've recently set up my pi with a firewall because of precautions that I found out about whilst browsing the forums about Internet security. But now I've blocked miniDLNA from being able to access it through Allcast on my Android phone to stream media. I've also broken the link using tightvlc to access it remotely, although I have been able to reconnect remotely via ssh.

Now I know most likely I have to do some port forwarding/opening of some sort but I have, for the life of me, not been able to find a clear set of instructions to figure out this issue. I've managed to get this far searching Google but have come up short and plain burnt out. I appreciate those helping in advanced.

It sounds as though that firewall is working well! To get detailed advice on how to reconfigure it for your needs might it be helpful to say what firewall software you installed?

Rule number one, don't mess with firewalls unless you're sat at the machine running the firewall and its using a real display and a real keyboard. :)

Been burnt more times than I care to remember with firewalls....
