hexxeh update tool installation failure

Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:57 am

Followed the instructions at: https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update/bl ... /README.md
I get a failure re certificates
"GitHub's SSL certificate isn't trusted. If you're on Debian, you can resolve this by typing:"
I'm on Debian latest official release So I tried as suggested:
sudo apt-get install ca-certificates
but that fails with:
Err http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian/ squeeze/main openssl armel 0.9.8o-4squeeze7
404 Not Found

Try the command
sudo apt-get update
and try again. You may have out-of-date package lists on your RPi.

Some success but I'm not sure.
The suggestion failed due to another dependency, but it told me how to get that.
I can then run rpi-update but it errors with:
Performing self-update
Autodetecting memory split
Using ARM/GPU memory split of 192MB/64MB
We're running for the first time
Setting up firmware (this will take a few minutes)
Using SoftFP libraries
/opt/vc/sbin/vcfiled: error while loading shared libraries: libvchiq_arm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
If no errors appeared, your firmware was successfully setup
A reboot is needed to activate the new firmware
root@raspberrypi:~#

I have rebooted and the system is working, should I be worried about the error?
