MPD playlists

So the other day my SD card corrupted. 
Everything got set back up, bar mpd mpc which works but for some reason won't let me save the playlists?!
I used to boot up the pi, then do mpc play (plus a number) and it would play the radio I set it up for, now though I can add them all but it does not save and so requires me to add the one that I want each time I boot up the pi.
So how do you enable mpd/mpc to save playlists?
(also it says they are turned off my default in the conf file)
